Something in the air

Wow, don't know what is going on lately but a whole bunch of people have 'found' me. In the last week I've been contacted by a teacher friend of mine that I haven't heard from in about a year. A dear dear special friend who I haven't spoken to in years found me online. An aunt found me to send me a picture of the cousins I have not seen in likely about 15 years (yes, that's despicable) and a girl that I loved as my own for many years. Let me tell ya, it takes a toll on ones emotions.
I'm here in Texas living a good life but I sure do miss the people I left behind. Some days, like today, are worse than others because it all seems to hit at once. You ever notice that??
So I've been looking at pictures of loved ones and remembering my fondest of memories as I sit here, alone, listening the chimes ring 12 noon in the background.
Don't get me wrong, I don't regret my move to Texas because I do love it here, especially on a day that is supposed to reach about 77F (about 24C for you Canadians...lol) with a lovely southerly breeze. The daffodils are blooming and things are already starting to turn green. My kids are happy and healthy and doing well in school with lots of friends and doing things teenagers do. The little guy is just being a '7 year old little guy' and being a kid.
But...there are days when I wish I could get in my car and drive over to my mom's house for lunch. Go to Rhonda's house for a coffee and just chat. I do miss those things, more than anyone will ever know.

On a different note: Today is Viqui's surgery. Please, everyone who reads this, say a prayer around 5pm PST (7 CST or 8 EST) for her to get through her surgery safely and for a quick recovery.

Welcome to my lake

How would you like to see this every night? When we bought our home here in Willow Lake Estates part of 'it' is that you have access to to Willow Lake. So, in essence, you own part of the lake. DH and I went for a walk last night and this was our view. NO, it's not right outside our door, unfortunatley, but only about 1/2 mile down the road is a picnic area with picnic tables, a boat ramp and a dock. It's so pretty. I just had to share.

It is actually sunny outside

SmileyCentral.comThank goodness the sun decided to finally come out and give up some its warmth. This has been an awful cold winter here in Texas. I do realize it's all relative and that it is much colder 'up north' but I'm so ready for the warm weather. It's 65 right now and I have the windows open and am just loving it!
It is going to be so nice to watch how things develop this spring. Just moving here a couple of months ago everything was brown and dead. It's so exciting to be able to watch new things grow, the leaves turn green, flowers bloom and so on. I'm so excited. And this week is going to reinforce that fact!
DH and I were outside yesterday afternoon enjoying a 56 degree day when my son came over saying he'd picked me a flower. I knew it had to be a dandelion, nothing else was blooming. This is what he pulled out..........
Yes, it is lovely and so awesome to see something blooming but 'eeek', he picked one of the daffodills. So now it's in my kitchen, brightening it up. I'm not exactly sure where he got it from but he did point out a whole bunch of buds coming up. I can't wait to see the bright cheery yellow flowers lighting up my yard. They are all over the place. I'll keep you posted.
C'mon spring!!

Just found this interesting....

Born in 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016...
MONKEY: You are a vary intelligent and a very clever wit. Because of your extraordinary nature and magnetic personality, you are always well-liked. The Monkey, however, must guard against being an opportunist and distrustful of other people. Your sign promises success in any field you try............This me and my hubby

Born in 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015...
GOAT: Except for the knack of always getting off on the wrong foot with people, the Goat can be charming company. Your are elegant and artistic but the first to complain about things. Put aside your pessimism and worry and try to be less dependent on material comforts. You would be best as an actor, gardener, or beachcomber........My son Matthew

Born in 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011.
RABBIT: You are the kind of person, that people like to be around affectionate, obliging, always pleasant. You have a tendency, though, to get too sentimental and seem superficial. Being cautious and conservative, you are successful in business but would also make a good lawyer, diplomat, or actor.......My son Austin

Born in 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954,1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014.
HORSE: Your capacity for hard work is amazing. Your are your own person-very independent. While intelligent and friendly, you have a strong streak of selfishness and sharp cunning and should guard against being egotistical. Your sign suggests success as an adventurer, scientist, poet, or politician..........My daughter Samantha
I just found this stuff so interesting. It is quite 'spot on' to the personalities in my family. It's so cool.

And the FedEx guy ain't bad either!

Well, she's at it again. She did tell me I had 2 packages coming but I didn't think anything could top yesterday's box. Here's what I got in today's box........

As you can see I got a 'load' of stuff. Some great stuff from Pier 1 Imports, some more great yarn, a couple of crochet books and an awesome set of Denise Interchangable knitting needles, with $5 going to breast cancer research. I only know how to 'very' novicely knit but for Viqui, I will learn. May not be today, but I promised her I would learn.
She also crocheted me 10 squares. 2 green and as she called them, a starter set of Stained glass squares. I've never been a big fan of crocheting with black but after seeing vibrant these squares are I'll be doing more, without a doubt!!

Don't ya love the UPS man??

Why? Well, he brings you all kinds of wonderful stuff. Yes, it's true, it comes from a store or another person. Yes, it has to be paid for. Yes, you even know it's coming. But still, dontchya just love him??

Well, Miss Viqui strikes again. I got a box from knitting warehouse.com today. She had told me it was coming and even gave me a hint. 'Think Green Clover". Well, once I opened the package to see 12 skeins of Bernat yarn in greens and a whole set of Clover hooks in their very own carry case, I fully understood.
She amazes me to no end. I just can't tell you. I will never be able to put in to words what this woman means to me. The thing is, we've seen each other face to face but I feel closer to her than I can explain. I'm sure any of you that have friends that you've met online understand what I mean.
Viqui, hun, get strong. Get well. I'm praying for you each and every day

Doggie question

Ok, here's the problem. My wonderful little doggie Chico likes to pee on my new carpet overnight. He's never peed on the floor in the daytime when we're all awake, only overnight. Now, for the most part he sleeps on my bed with me all night, as far as I'm aware....he's there with me when I go to sleep, if I wake up to pee at night, and when I wake up in the morning, so when he gets down in the night and pees I just don't know.
Besides crating him, does anyone have any ideas how I might be able to curb this behavior? I normally go to bed around 11pm and wake up around 5am.....like he can't hold it for 6 dang hours??!!??

Putting a question out there....HELP

As you may have read in a previous post, I have a very dear friend who is ill.
I've been trying to think of something that I can send to her on a weekly basis to make her forgot about it for a moment and put a smile on her face. Something that will make her want to stick around, if only to see what is coming next week.
Kind of like ....1 of 23 this week, 2 of 23 next week and so on.
Does anyone have any ideas at all? And it has to be small so I can send it in a normal sized envelope so I don't have to spend a fortune on shipping every week. Like most people, I don't have a lot of 'spare' money but I really want to do something for her.
Please

Two squares tested for Kathy

Kathy at Crochetmania needed a few testers for some squares she's made and I was lucky enough to be one of them. Here they are. Very pretty, don't you think?
